Black and white it is

Yap, still about the foundation celebration of my alma mater ( I told you I am not gonna stop talking about it LOL ). One of the things I look forward to is the foundation night or simply found night. Basically, it is a party for all high school students to do whatever they want, well not whatever but lets just say it is all about them. At first I told myself that I'm not going to go because I'm afraid the seniors  won't like not only my presence but of all alumni. But I just can't resist to take opportunities like this to dress up, I think it's becoming an illness LOL. Plus, I have some good senior friends and i would also like to catch up with them. Last year, our theme is all out retro and we did a variety-like show. This year, the senior went for a black and white theme, which I honestly think is better than ours LOL. As soon as I heard that it's a black and white party I went overdrive and immediately thought of a dress to wear. Luckily, I just thrifted some dresses that meets the theme, you could cheek out a video haul I did that features all the dresses I thrifted click here

Originally, I was going with my brother, but I know he will end up hanging with his high school friends, and I am going to be left alone. Fortunately, my friend Pia also was going and so my night was saved. In the party we saw our other batch mate, Jastine and we all hang together. By the way, I kind of styled Pia for that event, what do your think of her outfit? Classy and sweet.

Oh, did I mention that there is also a contest that night for solo singers, duet singers, pop dance groups, and bands. Wow, I can't believe I was actually paying ttention to what the MC is saying LOL. Here, my brother snapped some pictures of few of  the bands.

Here's what I wore.
Actually, there's a funny story on how we shot the outfit and outfit details. Well, after the party we tried to shot a few inside the gymnasium but didn't like the outcome, so we decided to shoot it at home but then I thought if we shoot it at home we're going to use the flash of the camera and thats not going to give justice to a dress like this. I told my brother to shoot at the gym again, and luckily it's lights are still on and  the sounds and lights guys are still packing up. We took the shots with them watching me pose awkwardly LOL. Thats why you could probably see a guy fixing some cables behind me. Well, at least we got the shot 😃

Whenever i'll go to an event like this, there's always this one question I dread to ask. What if someone wears the same dress I'll wear? That's a very big problem, well for me it is. So at first I was hesitating to go  for a high-low dress because it is such a big trend. But with that in mind I went for it saying there is no other event that could come up to be worthy of this dress. I went inside the venue and expectedly there are a few girls who are wearing high-low dresses it's not a problem after all.

Dress: Thrifted

Wearing a high-low dress makes me feel like a somebody. It makes me feel beautiful and special. Another thing is I love how it is long enough to cover my calves in the back and my legs in the front. So I hope, this trend is not going to go out of style soon, because I definitely want to wear more of this.  Color-wise, I could have gone black and white all the way styling but to give the outfit more personality I used a tangerine envelope clutch.

It was a great night, the only down side is it made me miss high school so much more. Well, at some point I need to move on, so what am I going to do is to not talk about it for a wile, not even in this blog. I know, I am making such a bug deal out of this but it is just very hard for me. I am still on the adjustment phase and I think I can pass through this and move on eventually.

That Sailor Moon Girl

An outfit I wore to chaperone my li'l brother to their family day event.  I was channeling my inner montessorian, and thought that if I were given the chance to reinvent the uniform of my alma mater, this outfit would be it, what do you think? Parang pang girl scout ata.

Obviously green was my school color but now, I'm proud to wear yellow, Goooooo tigers! Anyway, I want to use green as a part of my outfit and I am choosing to pair it between bright colors or darker hues. I decided to go dark since the weather that day is kind of gloomy and I made a good decision because it rained latter that day.

To break the black and green combo I added a touch another gem stone color to my outfit through my purse. I like the contrast between my emerald green top and my wine red purse. Personally, I like how this outfit turned out, it's classy, it's chic and it's girly.

Tomorrow would be my dad's birthday and I want to let everybody know how for me, he is the best dad in the world. My dad is my mentor and my teacher, and he inspires me so much. I look at him, and how he can lit up a room just by his wisdom, and I say to myself, I want to be like that when I grow up. He continuously amazes me by the things he  do and by the words he say. He is the perfect balance of a teacher, a friend, and being the best dad.
Happy Birthday Dad! I love you so much:)

I also want to take this opportunity to greet you all a happy halloween, spooookkky!

A Gaze at the Past

I mentioned a few times in my previous posts the incoming program/activities for the foundation month of my alma mater. Traditionally, a parade will took place to open a five or four day event. And as a sister that I am, I attended it to support my brother for he is a part of the drum and lyre team of the school. I was photographing every part of the day and it goes just the way I remembered it. And remember how I said someday I'm going to let go of my high school days? well, this day is not gonna be that day because I'm going to dedicate this post to it. Let's take a break from  the fashion world for awhile and come with me and lets take a gaze from my past (Who'd be interested in it right? well maybe through these you'll remember your past and might help you be cheered up from all your stress, or if not, Pagbiyan nalang ako LOL).

I made a list of the things I miss the most from my high school days and maybe you could do the same and share it with me in the comments, I would love to read all of it.

1. Programs and Activities
CAT officers on duty holding the banner of the school

One of the thing IJMS is known for are its programs held every month. There are different contests such as Mass demo in July as the Nutrition month, Math Jingle and interpretative dance in September as the Math and Science month, Foundation dance in October as the foundation month and the list goes on.
These events contributed a lot in us. There are relationships formed and  friendships crumbled. Simple practicing creates bonding moments that can be treasured forever. I miss all these so much because in college, even if  there are also activities we could attend to, everything starts all over again and it is not the same as high school.

I snap a photo of this because Faith was my section when I was a 1st year student, which is by the way my second name.

2. Organizations and Clubs
CAT officers of Infant Jesus Montessori School , S.Y. 2012-2013

I'm not bragging but, I'm in a lot of orgs and clubs back then and I learned a lot being in them. I learned how to lead( Atleast I think I do LOL), I learned to mingle and to work with people, and I also learned to commit to something and work hard to achieve a goal. I must say that experience really is the best teacher.

3. My beloved teachers
Two advisers of the four year classes and a fourth year student

Who doesn't love their teacher, right? Well maybe some of you don't but I sure do. They helped me so much and contributed in who I am today. They are my friend, adviser, and guide.

4. Relationships
No comment

Take the next thing that I'll say  positively :) Back then in high school, there are a lot of relationships; friendships, boyfriend-girlfriend relationships, etc. In the  girlfriend-boyfriend relationship, I always have been the third wheel and it might be weird but I long for the scene when all the girlfriends and boyfriends meet at breaks and lunch breaks to be with each other LOL

5. Friends
Me and one of my best friends
(L-R Me, Pia, Mei, Glydelyne, Mitzy, Loren, Chel, Alyssa, Rizza)

Yes, I made some friends in college but the connection I have with my high school friends cannot be replaced so easily. We've been together in ups and downs, we have been through break ups but still, we stand as one( And drama lang haha).

Let me stop there for it's getting a little depressing LOL. But there is one thing that is not going to stop, it is me rambling about my alma matter and my past.

About my outfit, I decided to just be simple since I would be photographing a parade, hence it's going to be hot. But why is she wearing a blazer you might ask? Well, I want to protect my skin from the sun and still looking so chic( Oh, the things a blazer could do, that's why I adore them so much).

What's your list of the things you miss from your high school days?

Oddity is Beauty

Hiya! This is me posting another outfit post wearing high waisted shorts. I apologize for the lack of variety of my outfit post lately. I just think that high waisted shorts seems to be the most appropriate to wear this days. However, this ensemble is different from the others.

I took my odd looking looking shorts for a spin and took inspiration from it and I just worked around it. I thrifted/bought this shorts for three reasons. The first one and the most obvious one is because of it's peplum-like design . It's like peplum the reincarnation LOL.Then, the print caught my eye. I always wanted at least one item in my closet that has an animal print in it. Not the usual leopard, cheetah or zebra, but a real/whole animal print. I've been hunting sometime now and I can't believe that I have found it at a thrift store (From time to time, I am becoming more impressed at the things I find at thrift stores, it makes me want to thrift more, it's addicting actually). And finally, the fact that it's shorts make it a hundred percent better, more convenient and comfortable.

Another odd thing I love about this outfit is the bag I used. I refer to it as a mangkukulam's bag. Not that I know what they carry as a bag. But it gives me that vibe of something mystical and mysterious. It's like there's a story behind it. I see it and think of the gems as buttons where in when you press it there's something that's going to happen, some magic or something like that. If you know what I'm talking about good for you, I don't even understand half the things I said LOL.

Bag: thrifted | Sunnies: Mura Dito

Gold and Black Bracelet: Accessorize | Crystal Bracelet: Gift

Odd usually comes off as a bad thing, but it's good to try it sometimes because you'll never know maybe it's a good thing after all. I tried it myself and I was surprised at the outcome, because I think it's beautiful and I think you'll agree with me on this, at least I think you'll do LOL. The lesson that comes with this post is ; In dressing up, don't be safe by doing the usual. Be bold and try something odd for it might lead to something beautiful, it's a good life advise too.

Brown Invasion

This is yet another outfit of me wearing high waisted shorts. Well, you can't blame me, it is just so hot now adays and these babies are the most comfortable thing to get into and I'm just too lazy to come up with something different. However, I always see to it that when I wear them I wear them with variety. In this case, I tried the nautical trend, which I adored from the moment I first saw it. It's casual but a little bit interesting.

I have been stacking up my basics from basic shorts to basic shirts like this one(well maybe not so basic with the collar but a striped tee is definitely a must-have). I also have been obsessing with basic colors such us red, navy blue, white, cream, and brown, hence the title. Its good to stack up basics because these are the pieces that you can wear over and over again.

I did some errands today and going to markets and other places here in the province with this kind of clothes gave me some stares and stink eyes. This made me want to wish for these people to just act normal when somebody tries to wear something different. It is just so tiring seeing people with their judging eyes but I still have hope that someday the world, at least my world will cope with the fashion industry( Not saying i'm a part of it, just simply saying).

Top: Thrifted | Shorts: Thrifted | Belt: Thrifted

I just love the details on the peter pan collar of this top. With the crochet lining together with the layered flaps makes it so dainty and sweet plus it just makes it stand out from all the other collars out there. Let me ramble for a little while about my love for collars. The thing about collars is that it gives that little something that an outfit needs and it's perfect for people like me who doesn't like wearing a lot of accessories especially necklaces, because a simple collar can give a statement equal to a necklace's.

One of the things that I'm excited about this sem break is the foundation celebration of my alma mater. I know, we are just alumni of the school and it's not for us to be excited about. But come on, give us a break. We just graduated from high school and honestly, we missed it so much, I mean I can't fully express it in words. Just let us enjoy this a little bit :)

Anyway, this week is kind of the peak of all the culminating activities, and I just want to see and just reminisce all the things that we do back when I was in high school. They say we can not move backward just forward, but I just miss it so much, so so much. Maybe next sem i'll totally get over it, at least i'll try :)
